Overview

Morae, a job seeker, lives his life raising a goldfish. Overwhelmed by depression, Morae attempts suicide in the bathtub, but at the moment of his death, his body becomes possessed by the soul of the goldfish. Now, as the goldfish inhabiting Morae's body, he escapes the cramped fish tank, carrying his own deceased body out of the house. From evening until dawn the next day, he meets various people, sharing stories and accompanying them. Planning to bury his body (the goldfish) in a park, he ends up following a runaway teenager to a dilapidated rooftop. As the sounds of the city herald the start of a new day, the goldfish (Morae) awakens from a half-day dream.
