Overview

The funeral of Luisa Amato takes places during a hot mid-july day in Sicily, in the little town of San Giovanni. In front of the great church, two men meet again after twenty years. Pietro was eighteen years old when he set off with his father to spend the summer holidays in Sicily. Soon, he realised that the reason behind the trip was only his father business. Deeply disappointed, Pietro started to take long walks alone in the village. While walking, he came across an old woman who welcomed him in her little house. Under a flowers-decorated pergola, Pietro found an old book marked with a withered poppy inside it. The sudden arrival of Tommaso, a confident light-hearted boy, marked a silent encounter that will forever change the course of their lives.
