Overview
Insect Reis is an experimental documentary film centered on an amateur nature observer who shares videos about animals and insects on his personal YouTube channel while working as a physics teacher. The artist travels from Istanbul to Izmir to meet him, listen to his stories, and explore nature together through field observations. Insect Reis’s naïve curiosity and fearless approach to the creatures they encounter blur the boundaries between nature and culture, creating a quiet companionship with the non-human world. In the final part, the two play a spontaneous game of creating hybrid living beings, bringing together the figures of artist, teacher, nature observer, and the representations of humans and animals.
