Overview
The Negro spirituals of the 19th century still strike a spiritual chord: songs of longing, home, redemption, and freedom. Join baritone Wintley Phipps on the grounds of a historical Tennessee slave plantation as he shares with viewers, both in song and explanation, some of the best-known and most thought-provoking spirituals like "Deep River," "Were You there?" and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot."
