Overview
In Lozère in 1961, Italian filmmaker Mario RUSPOLI shot “Les inconnus de la terre” (produced by Argos film). A film about the farmers of this department, and beyond that, about the dispossessed, about isolated individuals, as Ruspoli himself puts it, it marks a milestone in the history of documentary film. Fifty years later, director Jean-Christophe Monferran, Françoise-Eugénie Petit, and Martin de la Soudière, researchers familiar with the area, return to the very locations where the film was shot in an attempt to find the “actors” of yesteryear. What memories do they have of this film? What personal memories, what parts of their life journey does it bring to the surface? How did they make it their own?
