Overview

Half a million people have gathered at Alexanderplatz to tell the GDR leadership: We are the people! The demonstrators demanded free elections and the end of the SED dictatorship. The largest protest rally in the history of the GDR on Alexanderplatz in Berlin on November 4, a milestone in the peaceful revolution, is the starting point for stories from the last year of the GDR.
