What happens when the environment interferes with the action and becomes an actor? Stage or landscape are often relegated to the background as the scenic framework of the action. But landscapes or settings are often formative factors. They weave a foundation for the narrative construct and are crucial to locating a narrative in both time and space. In the film Edge Effects, familiar landscapes close to home meet the terrain of video games that flitted across screens in the children's room. This transfer between the physical and virtual worlds is the tension of Edge Effects. At an almost dreamlike pace between virtual world and daydream, we glide through landscapes of animated and real space, but this transfer is not without friction.
