Overview
She is the great-granddaughter of a Russian princess. She grew up in a mansion with 97 rooms, Flora Danica on the table, 14 servants and a ruthless mother. Denmark's richest girl became an equestrian, photographer, war hero, society girl and 1.87 m tall. "The Giraffe" loves men, tolerates women and admires Dame Edna. In Per Wennick's documentary film, the baroness with the deep voice, 84-year-old Varvara Heyd née Hasselbalch, tells about her colorful life, growing up, work during the war, marriages, snobbery and the fortune that dwindled.
