Overview

European discovery and exploration of the San Francisco Bay Area and its island began in 1542 and culminated with the mapping of the bay in 1775. Since then the city has never looked back and continued to make the headlines for one reason or the other. Besides offering unmatched charms to visitors and citizens alike, the city also took the lead in organizing labor.This historic set of videos provides a close up view of various aspects of life in the Jewel city in a charmingly informative manner and explains, at least partly, what prompted Senator Robert Kennedy to say, "I love this city, if I am elected, I will move the White House to San Francisco!"
