Overview
Documentary filmmaker Peter Rosen explores the life and music of Armenian-born Soviet composer Khachaturian, who flourished despite working in politically tumultuous times under Stalin. Featuring historic footage, concert performances and passages from the ballets "Spartacus" and "Gayne," this retrospective sheds welcome light on a musical genius and places his legacy within the broader context of 20th-century Russian music.
