In the tragic autumn of 1944, the possibility of liberation from the war and the chains of the German alliance flashes before our eyes. The old man's story was so touching and entertaining that Anwar doubted the authenticity of the story. The teahouse did not convince the guy and said goodbye to the student. Later, while picking up material from the military chronicle for his film, Anwar saw on the screen the familiar face of a teahouse and fighters guarding frozen apples. Remembering an unsaid episode of the war, the student went to meet his hero...

In 1917, the First World War is raging. Julien is from Luxemburg, so instead of having to go to war he studies piano in Paris. One day his friend Jacques, also a musician and now a fighter pilot on the front, invites him to spend a few days in his family's empty house in Bray. The housekeeper, a beautiful stoic woman lets Julien in, but his friend is late and he is obliged to wait. In the meantime, he starts reminiscing of the pre-war days spent with his friend and Jacques' girlfriend Odile.

Wing-commander Tim Mason leads a squadron of Lancaster bombers on almost nightly raids from England. Having flown eighty-seven missions he will shortly be retiring from flying, but the strain is showing. He tries to make sure his men concentrate only on their job and so keeps women away from the base, but then he himself meets naval officer Eve Canyon.

War rages in an undefined country. We get to follow three soldiers, who team up driving an armored tank. However, the vehicle keeps breaking down, and ammo is running short, the fighters' morale gets lower and lower and the situation degenerates.

Set at the end of the war. A hot-headed colonel tries to force his men on to heroics although the war is almost over. A war-weary lieutenant tries to muffle his efforts but he keeps on with his men and is killed fighting in the front lines, all his men decide to get his body.
