Following the true story of U.S. Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman and his fight to the death to save his fellow soldiers during the 2002 Battle of Takur Ghar in Afghanistan. Berlin in June of 1940. While Nazi propaganda celebrates the regime’s victory over France, a kitchen-cum-living room in Prenzlauer Berg is filled with grief. Anna and Otto Quangel’s son has been killed at the front. This working class couple had long believed in the ‘Führer’ and followed him willingly, but now they realise that his promises are nothing but lies and deceit. They begin writing postcards as a form of resistance and in a bid to raise awareness: Stop the war machine! Kill Hitler! Putting their lives at risk, they distribute these cards in the entrances of tenement buildings and in stairwells. But the SS and the Gestapo are soon onto them, and even their neighbours pose a threat.

In 1936, the Long March of the Red Army passed through the Tibetan area by the Jinsha River. The Kuomintang colluded with the great local tyrant Qiu Wanli in an attempt to prevent the Red Army from crossing the river north. Qiu Wanli asks his minions to pretend to be the Red Army and rob the chieftain Sangge's only daughter Zhuma to provoke the relationship between the chieftain and the Red Army. The Red Army adhered to the party's ethnic policy, rescued Zhuma, and crossed the Jinsha River to the border of Tibetan areas. Qiu again sneaked into the Tibetan area. He said that Zhuma had been killed by the Red Army and provided ammunition and weapons for the chieftain to fight the Red Army. In order to expose the enemy's rumors, the Red Army instructor Jin Ming took a squad to escort Zhuma home.

Unfortunate events beset a poor Chinese girl as she escapes from invading Japanese forces, narrowly avoids being raped, and seeks solace in a neighboring village.

A veteran of the African War, along with two young men, one of whom is newly married, are called to arms to defend their homeland's borders. They will be protagonists of dramatic events involving assaults, retreats, and life in the trenches. The old veteran of the African War will ultimately perish as a hero, while the other two will return to their homes after the victorious battle to recount the dramatic events they experienced.

Alsino, a boy of 10 or 12, lives with his grandmother in a remote area of Nicaragua. He's engulfed in the war between rebels and government troops when a US advisor orders the army to open a staging area by the boy's hamlet. Alsino tries to be a child, climbing trees with a girl, looking through his grandfather's trunk of mementos and trying to fly; he goes to town to sell a saddle, has his first drink and is taken to a brothel. But the war surrounds him. The US advisor takes Alsino on a chopper flight, but he's unimpressed. The soldiers' cruelties awake rebel sympathies in Alsino, and after an army assault backfires, the lad is fully baptized into the conflict.

Based on an excerpt from the novel by L.N.Tolstoy "War and Peace." The war of 1812. The defeated Napoleonic army is retreating. Three Russian soldiers settled in a snowy forest near a fire: a young (Zaletayev), an elderly and a middle-aged one. Zaletayev fantasizes — as if he had captured Napoleon. The soldiers laugh good-naturedly at him. After dinner, they fall asleep... Two Frenchmen go to the clearing — an officer and a soldier. Russian soldiers wake up and, seeing that the officer is barely standing on his feet from cold and hunger, take him to the colonel. The French soldier sits down to the fire. The Russians give him porridge and vodka. The soldier, encouraged, sings a french song. Zaletayev echoes him. A tired Frenchman falls asleep on Zaletayev’s shoulder. The soldiers carefully shelter him. “Also people,” an elderly soldier says with a sigh.

Rustam is a Soviet soldier from Uzbekistan who has been drafted for the Afghanistan war. In the war, he experiences the harsh reality of being unable to categorize the friendly and enemy forces into good and evil.

War never changes

In 1864, during the American Civil War, Mexican cattleman Alvarez Kelly supplies the Union with cattle until unexpected circumstances force him to change his customers.

At the Paulistano Club pool, Lygia tells Nilo that she liked the album "Lua Branca," recorded by the young man. He promises to visit her to perform the song in person. The visit marks the beginning of a romance between the two, which later becomes an engagement. 'Always Another Dawn' celebrates the Australian Navy's contribution to the Allied victory in WW2. The ship (Dauntless) is based on the real-life HMAS Yarra, which was sunk by a Japanese cruiser squadron on 4 March 1942 with 138 lives lost. Assisted by the Royal Australian Navy, filming took place at Flinders Naval Depot Melbourne and aboard the destroyer HMAS Bataan.
