It supported her debut studio album, ...Baby One More Time (1999) and visited the United States and Canada. The tour was announced in March 1999, with dates released a month later. Tommy Hilfiger was chosen as the tour sponsor. The show was divided into various segments, with each segment being followed by an interlude to the next segment, and it ended with an encore. The setlist consisted of songs from her debut album and several covers.

...But I Was a Girl: The Story of Frieda Belinfante tells the story of Frieda Belinfante (1905–1995), a remarkable woman who was the first female conductor to have her own symphony orchestra, first in Holland and later in OrangeCounty, California. Controversial, because of her sexuality, she showed a remarkably strong and positive will in everything she did. Born in a family of musicians in Amsterdam, she joined the resistance during World War II, then later fled to Switzerland. After the war she moved to the US where she resumed her musical career in the Hollywood studios, and formed her own symphony orchestra with Hollywood musicians. The story of Frieda’s lifeis told by herself, her older sister Renee, old students and friends, and illustrated by the places she lived, archive materials of her orchestras and some of her music.

A performance by Karel Kryl was recorded in 1969 and released from the archives of the public television and radio company NRK almost fifty years later. The recording, which is more than 22 minutes long, was made in Oslo, Norway, at the end of June and beginning of July during Kryl's three-week stay in Scandinavia, where he was invited by the Norwegian Student Union at the instigation of Czechoslovak exiles. Karel Kryl then returned to Czechoslovakia, but at the time of the Norwegian premiere of the program on October 28, 1969, the anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia, he was already living in exile in Munich. The then 25-year-old singer and exceptional poet accompanied his five songs, Salome, Jeřabiny, Bratříčku, zavírej vrátka, Marat ve vaně and Rakovina, with illustrations he drew with chalk on a blackboard in the studio.
