Six years after the conclusion of the One Year War (UC0086~0087). A girl who lost not only her parents, but her own memory by a colony dropping thanks to the Zeon, is recruited into a Newtype research institute (the Murasame Labs). After aimlessly wandering, she becomes test subject No. 004 (aka "Four"). Here she is trained to become a strengthened human with two other subjects (No. 005 Jill Ratokie and No. 006 Amari Garfield). The intense training killed many people, and yet through it all Four and Jill comfort each other. On the other side of the spectrum, at the Augusta Laboratory, Dr. Murasame learns of their plans to create another artificial newtype: Rosamia Badam. Murasame studies Rosamia's memory. The story of a young, happy-go-lucky Japanese officer over the course of World War II. In 1940, he goes to Mongolia to help a nomadic family who rescued him during the Soviet-Japanese War of 1939. He decides to live with his Mongolian friends, but he is accidentally conscripted into the Red Army. At the Battle of Moscow in 1941 he becomes a prisoner of war of the Germans, but eventually is allowed to join the Waffen-SS, in which he becomes a Tiger tank crewman. And that's just the start of his adventures...

Yukikazu Tosaku was a student in peaceful Japan, but during his break, he and his classmates were suddenly summoned to a different world to be warriors. While hearing a mysterious voice the country that summoned Yukikazu and the others explained the world was in crisis and asked them to fight for them offering them a good life in exchange. Due to the words of his classmates, however, Yukikazu was given the opportunity to think about how he should act going forward, so he leaves the castle to learn a little bit more about the world. And the result...? He volunteered to become a soldier, hoping to build his own track record and become an adventurer through his own merit rather than be given preferential treatment. Critics of the book say it distorts history by claiming that Taiwanese women volunteered to be comfort women for Japanese soldiers during World War II. Such claims were backed by comments from petrochemical Chi Mei Corporation Chairman Hsu Wen-lung whom the author cited as confirming that no women were forced into prostitution. Taiwan legislators and other protesters stormed Taipei's biggest bookstore, grabbing the books and setting it on fire on the sidewalk. On 2 March 2001 the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of China barred Kobayashi from travel to Taiwan, igniting objections from high ranking government officials including National Policy Advisor Alice King. President Chen Shui-bian spoke out in defense of King and Kobayashi stating that freedom of speech is the right of everyone and must be safeguarded. The ban was lifted on 23 March 2001.
