So, essentially, from what I can glean, the “Minions” are a series of films about these little yellow creatures, a sickly old man and also his wife (?). They sing and dance to popular songs and they have all been very friendly to me. This is a film about a theme park in Singapore.

1°. Nel porto di Genova, Veliero ("1. In the Port of Genoa, Sailing Ship") is a 1928 silent amateur film by Guglielmo Baldassini, preserved as a 2K DCP from a 9.5mm reversal print without intertitles. Held by Fondazione Home Movies in Bologna, the film shows a sailing ship entering Genoa’s port, likely shot from a small boat. Baldassini, a Milanese painter and etcher, used the Pathé Baby format to capture landscapes and seascapes, often as references for his artwork. His archive includes 95 reels filmed between 1926 and the early 1930s, focusing on family, Milan, coastal scenes, and mountains. He developed his films at home, experimenting with tinting, toning, and exposure correction. Many reels show emulsion decay due to aging and chemical treatments. Notes by Michele Manzolini and Mirco Santi appear in the 44th Pordenone Silent Film Festival catalogue.

The film tells the story of A. Bikše's object "1/10 of Mother Earth's Office" in the Great Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Riga. After its closure, there were plans to create a park here, but at present it looks like a place abandoned to fate, used mainly by drunkards, mothers with prams and dogs. A confrontation between the opinions of cultural critic P. Bankovskis and artist A. Bikše on the fate of the cemetery, the contemporary meaning of art, and the creation of the art object itself.

A visual documentary of Einstürzende Neubauten, the German underground band, by Japanese cult director Sogo Ishii, made during their 1985 tour of Japan. The band makes an elaborate and remarkably choreographed appearance in the ruins of an old ironworks which was scheduled for demolition; footage of same was incorporated into the movie and a brief appearance on stage.

Around one hundred million sharks are killed every year because of overfishing. Only roughly thirty of them can be saved, which gives them a survival rate of one in three million. In 2016, at a fishing port in Tatung County, Taiwan, two pregnant tiger sharks were caught by local fishermen, and 75 shark pups were rescued. An unprecedented release operation thus began. Macedonian mockumentary.

A silent experimental film, originally made in accompaniment to Josephine Zwaan's '1/4' album release presentation in 2016. The film sees musician Josephine Zwaan persist through a test of endurance, with the foundation of the film being a one-take of her staring deeply into the lens of the camera, haphazardly overlayed and re-framed by graphical elements color-matched to the album's artwork.

Mostly dark, rejecting images which are repeated. A stone wall, the chamber of a revolver which is, at first not recognizable, a close-up of a cactus. The duration of the takes emphasises the photographic character of the pictures, simultaneously with a crackling, brutal sound. (Hans Scheugl)

After casting painter and video artist Mania Akbari as the central figure of his groundbreaking Ten (2002), and then witnessing her outstanding debut as a feature film director in 20 Fingers (2004), Abbas Kiarostami urged her to direct a sequel to the film. In Dah be alaveh Chahar (10 + 4), though, circumstances are different: Mania is fighting cancer. She has undergone surgery; she has lost her hair following chemotherapy and no longer wears the compulsory headscarf; and sometimes she is too weak to drive. So the camera follows her to record conversations with friends and family in different spaces, from the gondola she had famously used in her first feature to a hospital bed.

For decades, Mart’s life revolved mainly between his radio work and the iconic Valli Bar. Now, in his later years, he lives in a care home, having spent the last three years battling Ataxia. Smoking remains one of the few pleasures he still has. “If I didn’t smoke, I wouldn’t even have a reason to get out of bed,” he says. Reaching the designated smoking area is a major effort — it takes him about 20 minutes to shuffle down the corridor with five-centimeter steps, turning corners, and taking breaks. But once there, under the sky, Mart shares his story with biting humor and sharp wit. His greatest wish? To visit Valli Bar one last time — the place where he once met the love of his life.

Our global food system is under transformation.
